Firozabad, Oct 25: Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Baby Rani Maurya narrowly escaped injury on Friday night when a truck lost control and collided with her car on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, officials said.
The incident took place near the 56th kilometre mark in Firozabad when a truck ahead of the minister’s convoy suffered a sudden tyre blowout, causing it to skid uncontrollably into her vehicle, confirmed Sirsaganj SDM Anivesh Kumar. Maurya was returning to Lucknow after attending official programmes in Hathras.

Thanks to the quick reflexes of her driver, the car was brought under control despite severe damage. The minister, unharmed, continued her journey in another vehicle.
In a post on X, Maurya reassured the public, saying: “I am safe by the infinite grace of Parampita Parameshwar and all of you, my dear well-wishers.” Traffic on the expressway was being managed on a single carriageway at the time of the accident.
The police arrived immediately at the scene and seized the truck involved. Following the near-miss, Minister Maurya instructed authorities to ensure strict safety measures, highlighting the need for proactive monitoring and prompt response mechanisms. Officials are expected to review expressway safety protocols in light of the incident.
