Jaisalmer, Oct 25: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday described Operation Sindoor as a historic testament to India’s courage and restraint, while urging the armed forces never to underestimate adversaries and to remain alert for any eventuality.

During his visit to the Thar Shakti military exercise near the India-Pakistan border in Jaisalmer, Singh lauded the Indian Army’s bravery, combat readiness, and operational capabilities in desert warfare. Addressing senior army officers at a commanders’ conference, he stressed the importance of modernisation, intelligence-driven operations, and advanced defence infrastructure to effectively tackle future challenges.

Calling Operation Sindoor a reflection of India’s military prowess and national character, Rajnath Singh said, “The strength of our soldiers lies not just in weapons, but in their discipline and strategic clarity. This operation demonstrated precise action against terrorists while respecting human dignity. As long as the terrorist mindset persists, our mission for peace will continue.”

During the review at Longewala border post, hundreds of troops showcased advanced combat skills in desert terrain. The exercise featured cutting-edge equipment including robotic mules, drones, robo-dogs, ATOR 1200 vehicles, tanks, and helicopters. Defence Minister Singh interacted with soldiers and senior officers, encouraging them to maintain operational excellence and readiness.

The two-day visit highlighted India’s commitment to strengthening its military capabilities along the western frontier while reinforcing morale among troops deployed in challenging desert conditions.
