Aurangabad, Oct 29: A shocking case of human trafficking has surfaced from Aurangabad, where a 29-year-old woman was allegedly sold in Thailand under the guise of a lucrative job offer. The victim, Simran Haresh Chaudhary, secured her release only after paying $2,000 to the company that had purchased her.

According to Simran’s complaint, she holds a diploma in Electrical Engineering and was working as an office executive. After her divorce in 2020, she began looking for better job opportunities. She came across a newspaper advertisement and joined an agency in Ulkanagari, where she met Avinash Rambhau Udhan, who promised her a high-paying job in Thailand. He took Rs 1.5 lakh from her as placement charges and confirmed the job.

In August, Simran travelled to Bangkok, where a man named Harpreet Singh met her and took her to Kampot in Cambodia. There, she was handed over to a company named Creative Mindset, where she was forced to work in a chatting scam. When she questioned the job, she was told she had been sold.

After being trapped for two months, Simran managed to contact her family and arranged $2,000 to secure her freedom. With help from the Indian Embassy, she was safely brought back to India. Embassy officials escorted her to Mumbai Airport, where immigration authorities recorded her statement.

Following her complaint, the Sahar Police registered a case against Avinash Rambhau Udhan for cheating and trafficking. The case has now been transferred to Pundliknagar Police Station for investigation under PSI Mhatre.

Police are investigating the wider network involved in the racket and suspect more women may have fallen victim to the same fraudulent job scheme.
