Buldhana, Nov 1: A shocking incident has surfaced from Buldhana district where a young man lost his life while shooting a social media reel near a railway track. The youth, wearing headphones, failed to hear an oncoming train and was fatally hit, resulting in his tragic death on the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Sheikh Nadeem Sheikh Rafiq (20), a resident of Pimpalgaon Raja in Khamgaon taluk. His companion, Shakir Sheikh (27), sustained severe injuries in the same incident. The mishap occurred on October 30 around 3:30 pm on a railway bridge near Alsana. The tragedy has caused deep sorrow in the local community, as the craze for selfies and reels has once again claimed a young life.

According to local witnesses, Nadeem and Shakir were on their way to attend a wedding when they stopped near the bridge to click selfies and record a reel. Engrossed in the video and listening to music through headphones, they failed to notice a speeding train approaching from behind. Nadeem, who was standing close to the track, was struck with full force and thrown a considerable distance. He died instantly, while Shakir sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.
Eyewitnesses said both men were in high spirits while heading for the wedding but were drawn toward the railway track to capture videos. They changed their route towards the tracks without realizing the risk involved. The high-speed train that appeared suddenly left them with no time to react. The horrific incident was captured on video, which has since gone viral on social media.
Following the incident, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) reached the spot swiftly and dispersed the crowd that had gathered. The injured youth was shifted to the hospital for treatment, and police have begun a detailed investigation.
The heartbreaking event has once again raised concerns over the growing obsession with social media content creation, which continues to cost innocent lives.
