Nanded, Nov 30: In Maharashtra’s Nanded district, a woman performed marital rituals at the funeral of her deceased boyfriend, who was allegedly killed by her family over caste-related opposition to their relationship.

The victim, identified as 20-year-old Saksham Tate, was reportedly assaulted, his head crushed with a stone, and later shot dead. Police said the attack was carried out by the woman’s father and brothers, who opposed the couple’s three-year relationship.

During Tate’s funeral, the woman, Aanchal, applied vermillion on her forehead and turmeric on the body, stating that she would reside in Tate’s house as his wife. She also demanded strict punishment for those involved in the killing.

According to preliminary information, the couple had planned to marry, which allegedly triggered the family’s violent reaction. Police have registered a case and arrested six persons in connection with the murder. The accused are currently being interrogated.

Further investigation is underway.
