Mangalore, Feb 19: In a shocking revelation, a 13-year-old girl has alleged that she was threatened and raped repeatedly by two men for a long time. Both the accused have been absconding ever since the incident came to light.
The accused are Wahid (45) and Mubarak (36), residents of Kandathpally in Bundar.
The family of the victim had come to the city from Badami in Bagalkot district searching for job. The victim who was being (allegedly) repeatedly raped had been staying in the city with her parents, sister and three brothers since April.
Her father Hanumantha is a coolie and her mother a sweeper in the government school. As she was cleaning, sweeping and doing other menial jobs in the school, a room had been given to the family by the school authority.
She is the eldest daughter of her parents, and is studying in 4th standard.
The two accused allegedly exploited her sexually several times since April and later threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the matter. A car was being used to rape the victim, it is said. At times, the girl was being taken by one of them to his house and sexually abused. On other occasions, the accused even came to the school room where the family stayed and raped the girl when her parents were out on work, sources said.
The incident came to light only when the girl, unable to bear the torture any longer, narrated her ordeal a neighbor who immediately informed her mother. Accordingly, the mother registered a case in the police station.
Bunder police who arrived at the spot, interrogated the victim and conducted further investigation. The girl was then taken to hospital for a medical test.
The accused are said to be married men, with children. Police have launched a search operation to locate the two.
