Sullia court orders community service for youth involved in car stunt misconduct

Sullia, Dec 10: A Sullia court has ordered community service for one of the accused who was involved in creating nuisance by sitting on top of a moving car and leaning his body outside the vehicle, thereby causing inconvenience to other motorists near Aranthodu on the Mani–Mysuru Highway a few months ago.

A local resident had recorded a video of the youths’ reckless behaviour and circulated it on social media, urging the police department to take action against them. In connection with the case, police sub-inspector Santosh B P had filed a chargesheet against the accused.

The accused, Sajib from Bhatkal, appeared before the SCJ and JMFC Court, which imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 and sentenced him to 10 days of community service.

Under the community service order, Sajib must stand at the main junction of Sullia town from December 9 to December 18 along with the Sullia police personnel, holding placards displaying traffic rules to create public awareness, and assist in traffic regulation. This order was issued by senior civil judge B Mohan Babu.
