New Delhi, Dec 16: India has reported 1,13,440 dengue cases and 94 deaths between January and November 2025, the Centre informed Parliament on Tuesday.
In a written response in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel shared state-wise data on dengue incidence and fatalities, based on reports submitted by States and Union Territories to the National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC).
Tamil Nadu recorded the highest number of dengue cases at 20,866, followed by Maharashtra with 13,333 cases and Kerala with 10,239. In terms of fatalities, Kerala topped the list with 49 deaths, while Maharashtra reported 13 and Tamil Nadu 12.

The minister also outlined dengue trends over the past five years, noting a steady rise after 2020, when 44,585 cases were reported. The number climbed to 1,93,245 in 2021 and crossed 2.33 lakh in both 2023 and 2024. Compared to these years, dengue cases in 2025 are the lowest since 2021.
Highlighting preventive efforts, Patel said the Centre has been closely reviewing state preparedness ahead of transmission seasons. Technical guidelines on integrated vector management, prevention, control, and case management are regularly shared with states to ensure timely action.
She added that entomologists are being trained in vector control strategies, while ASHA workers and Domestic Breeding Checkers are actively engaged in source-reduction and awareness activities at the community level. States and UTs are also issued advisories to strengthen preparedness against potential outbreaks.
Patel further noted that free dengue diagnosis is being provided nationwide, including for economically vulnerable patients, as part of the government’s efforts to reduce the disease burden.
