Siddhivinayak Ganesh idol not open for darshan till Jan 11

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Jan 5: Devotees will not be able to have darshan of the main Ganesh idol at Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak temple from January 7 to January 11 due to the annual sindoor lepan ceremony, temple authorities said.

During this ritual, the idol is strengthened and preserved through the application of vermilion. While the ceremony is underway, devotees will be allowed to offer prayers to a replica of the Ganesh idol installed within the temple premises.

The main Ganesh moorti in the sanctum sanctorum will be reopened for devotees after 1 pm on January 12, following the completion of the ritual.
