Mumbai, Jan 6: The Government Railway Police (GRP) have registered a case against six youngsters, four of whom are minors, for allegedly robbing a passenger inside a luggage coach of a Harbour Line local train at Dockyard Road station on Monday.

According to police, two of the accused, both adults, have been arrested, while the four minors were sent to an observation home as per juvenile justice procedures. All six are residents of Dongri and reportedly earn a living through odd jobs. Officials said none of them is currently enrolled in school or college.

The incident occurred around 4.30 pm when the group boarded a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)-bound local train at Dockyard Road. At the time, only one passenger was present in the luggage compartment. The youths allegedly surrounded him, and one of them used a trouser belt to threaten the victim before stealing Rs 11,000 from his pockets.

Outnumbered and intimidated, the passenger did not put up resistance. The group then allegedly alighted at Sandhurst Road station and fled with the cash.

After the victim lodged a complaint with the Wadala GRP, police reviewed CCTV footage from the station and nearby areas. This helped them identify and trace all six suspects.

“One of the accused who is now above 18 years of age has a previous criminal record dating back to when he was a juvenile,” a police officer said, adding that further investigation into the case is underway.
