Mumbai, Jan 8: Two persons lost their lives after a fire broke out in a four-storey commercial building in the Chandivali area of Mumbai on Wednesday evening, civic officials said.
The fire erupted at around 6.36 pm on the third floor of Tex Centre, Narayan Plaza Building, located in the eastern suburb of Andheri. Mumbai Fire Brigade personnel rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after nearly three hours of firefighting operations.

Due to the fire, the entire building was filled with thick smoke. Two persons were found unconscious inside an office premises and were rescued by firefighters. However, they were later declared brought dead at hospitals, officials said.
The deceased were identified as Bhagvan Pitale (30), who was declared brought dead at Seven Hills Hospital, and Sumant Jadhav (28), who was declared brought dead at Rajawadi Hospital.
According to officials, the fire was confined to Unit No. 303 of M/s Neocell Industries and spread over an area of about 1,500 square feet. The blaze involved electric wiring and installations, lithium-ion batteries, office files, furniture, wooden partitions, glass windows, doors and a false ceiling.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, officials added.
