Mumbai, Jan 11: In view of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Elections 2026 scheduled on Thursday, the Mumbai Traffic Police have announced temporary traffic restrictions on Veera Desai Road in Andheri West. The restrictions will remain in force from January 14 to January 16, officials said.
According to a press release issued by the Mumbai Traffic Police, movement of all vehicles, except those engaged in election-related duties, will be prohibited on both carriageways of Veera Desai Road. The affected stretch extends from J.P. Road Junction to Mogra Nala, near J.P. Road, Azad Nagar, close to the Metro Station in Andheri (West), falling under Ward Nos. 59 to 71 of the K/West Division.

The restrictions are being enforced to ensure the smooth conduct of the election process and to maintain traffic safety and regulation during the polling period.
The traffic curbs will be in effect from 7 am on January 14 till 10 pm on January 16.
As per the advisory, no entry will be allowed for vehicles on Veera Desai Road between J.P. Road Junction and Mogra Nala in both directions, except for vehicles on election duty.
The Traffic Police have suggested alternate routes for commuters. Vehicles approaching via the southbound carriageway of Veera Desai Road are advised to take a right or left turn at Courtyard Junction and proceed via Chitrakut Junction and New Link Road. Similarly, vehicles approaching via the westbound carriageway of J.P. Road should take a right turn and continue via New Link Road.
The Mumbai Traffic Police have appealed to motorists and citizens to cooperate by adhering to the temporary traffic restrictions and using alternative routes to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during the election period.
