Bangalore : FIR Filed Against BS Yeddyurappa, Daughter S Y Arunadevi

Shimoga, Feb 25 ( DHNS ) : The Lokayukta police, on Saturday, filed a first information report (FIR) against eight persons, including former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and his daughter S Y Arunadevi, in connection with illegal allotment of sites under working journalists’ quota.

An FIR was filed under Sections 13(1) (d) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Sections 120 (b) and 420 of the Indian Penal Code at the Principal District and Sessions Court, following the order of Judge Mahalakshmi Nerale to investigate a private complaint filed by city-based advocate, B Vinod.

In the complaint, Yeddyurappa is accused of writing a letter to then KHB Commissioner Dyaberi recommending the allotment of four ‘G’ category sites (each measuring 30x50) to Shivashankar, Krishna, Sandesh Gowda and Manjunath (employed in an institution run by Arunadevi) at Kallahalli on the outskirts of the city, despite being aware of the fact that none of the four beneficiaries was a journalist, during his tenure as deputy chief minister in 2007.

Arunadevi is accused of getting four sanctioned ‘G’ category sites registered in her name on March 31, 2010,  in violation of norms.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Vinod said: “It is good that the Lokayukta Police have initiated the investigation without any delay. The Lokayukta sleuths, led by Inspector Samiulla, visited the KHB office at Rajendra Nagar in Shimoga on February 24 and scrutinised the documents. They have found that the four sites had been transferred to Arunadevi’s name in violation of the norms.”

The Lokayukta police will submit the investigation report to the district court on March 14.
