Udupi, Feb 27: Through an order, national president of Congress party, Sonia Gandhi, has appointed All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and Rajya Sabha member, Oscar Fernandes, as overall in-charge of preparations and publicity programmes being undertaken by the party for the coming Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha bypoll. At the same time, assembly constituency-wise responsibilities for campaigning and other activities have also been distributed among Congress leaders.

While H K Patil and H Vishwanath will oversee Udupi constituency, R V Deshpande and Motamma have been given the responsibility of Kundapur assembly constituency. K Rehman Khan will handle responsibilities in Kaup constituency, with union minister for corporate affairs, M Veerappa Moily, having been given the task of monitoring Karkala constituency. B Janardhana Poojary will have Moodigere under his charge, Chikmagalur has been given to S M Krishna, with Sringeri and Tarikere having been allotted to union ministers, Mallikarjun Kharge and K H Muniyappa. This information was given by AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka, Madhusudan Mistry to Oscar Fernandes, said Congress leader, M A Gafoor.
