Mumbai, Jan 26: An actor was arrested in Mumbai for allegedly raping his domestic help over a period of 10 years on the false promise of marriage, police said on Monday.

Based on a complaint filed by a 41-year-old woman, police arrested Nadeem Khan on January 22. He is currently in police custody, an official said.

According to the complaint, the woman had worked as a domestic help for several actors and came into contact with Khan years ago, following which the two grew close. She alleged that Khan promised to marry her and, on that assurance, sexually assaulted her multiple times at her residence in Malwani and at his house in Versova in the western suburbs over the past decade.

The complainant stated that Khan later refused to marry her, prompting her to approach the Versova police station. Since the alleged assault first took place within the jurisdiction of Malwani police station and the woman is a resident of that area, the case was transferred to Malwani police through a zero FIR, the official said.

Khan was last seen in the Ranveer Singh-starrer film ‘Dhurandhar’. Police said further investigation is underway.
