Karwar, Feb 28: Minister for fisheries, science and technology, Anand Asnotikar’s enthusiasm caused a minor accident here at the inaugural function for new buses allotted to the local depot on Monday February 27.

Asnotikar came to the depot on Monday, and flagged off the two buses, which run between Karwar and Manipal, and Karwar and Hassan, respectively. He then boarded one of the buses and started the bus with a jerk. The bus then moved ahead and hit a goods rickshaw, causing a gash mark on the right side of the bus, and some damage to the rickshaw. Although the people around started to shout, the minister stopped the bus only after moving for some distance.

Luckily, the goods rickshaw suffered only minor damages. The minister was lucky, as people were not on the way of the bus. Asnotikar said he will meet the repair expenses of the rickshaw.

The function was attended by municipal president, Ganapti Ulvekar, taluk panchayat president, Nagaveni Pavaskar, and others.
