Harare, Feb 6: India clinched the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup title for a record sixth time after registering a commanding 100-run victory over England in the final on Friday, riding on a sensational century by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and a clinical bowling performance.
Batting first after winning the toss, India piled up a massive 411/9 in 50 overs, powered by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s breathtaking 175 off just 80 balls. The right-hander’s explosive knock laid the foundation for India’s imposing total, as England’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs.

In reply, England were rocked early when Ayush Mhatre removed the dangerous Ben Dawkins, while Ralphie Albert was run out soon after. Deepesh Devendran then turned the screws, picking up two wickets in the same over, including James Minto, who departed for 28. England continued to lose wickets in quick succession and were eventually bowled out for 311, despite Caleb Falconer’s fighting half-century.
India’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the chase, ensuring England never seriously threatened the target. The win capped an unbeaten campaign for India, who looked composed from their opening match against the United States and carried that momentum through the tournament.
England, who had also entered the final unbeaten and had defeated arch-rivals Australia by 27 runs in the semifinals, fell short in the title clash despite a spirited effort.
With this triumph, India extended their dominance in the competition, having now won the U19 World Cup six times, while England remain on one title.
