Udupi, Feb 29: Under the aegis of the District Athletic Association and Brahmavar Sports Club, the district-level children's sports meet was held at SMS grounds, Brahmavar, on Sunday February 26.

Entrepreneur Pramod Madhwaraj, after hoisting the sports flag, said that despite India having a population of over 115 crore, very few athletes qualify to partake in the Olympics, chiefly due to lack of
interest in nurturing sportsmanship during childhood, poor training, and denying opportunity.

“Meanwhile, better results can be expected in every district and taluk if sports clubs such as Brahmavar Sports Club are established there,” he said.

SMS College principal Professor K Narayanan inaugurated the sports meet. The District Athletic Association president K Balakrishna Hegde presided over the programme.

The athletic association secretary Dinesh Kumar and Brahmavar Sports Club secretary Gregory D’Silva were present on the occasion.

Brahmavar Sports Club president Dr Prakash Tolar welcomed the gathering. M C Hegde proposed the vote of thanks while Roshan Kumar Shetty compered the programme.
