Mangalore, Feb 29: AJ Hospital & Research Centre, here has installed a Gas Plasma Sterilizer Sterrad from Johnson & Johnson at its CSSD. This is the first hospital in Coastal Karnataka to adopt the next generation Plasma Sterilizer. The Sterilizer was inaugurated recently by AJ Shetty, chairman, AJ Group of Institutions.

Sterrad is safe for the environment as the system does not emit any toxic chemical or harmful radiations. Sterrad is safe for patients and employees as it does not leave any residues on the instruments. No carcinogenic or mutagenic effect. Efficacy of Sterrad is far superior to conventional methods in terms of efficiency, speed and fast turnaround time and all the latest delicate and expensive surgical instruments can be sterilized safely.

To create awareness among the healthcare professionals, AJ Hospital & Research Centre in association with the Advanced Sterilized Products Division of Johnson & Johnson had organized a CME on the same day for the Operation Theatre & CSSD staff on “Advances in Disinfection and Sterilization”. The CME was attended by about 98 members from KMC Manipal and Mangalore, Fr Mullers and Yenepoya Hospitals.
