Kasargod: Women in Customers' Guise Fleece Jewellery Shop

Kasargod, Feb 29: A leading jewellery shop in the town was deceived by a gang of three women, who posed themselves as customers, on Monday February 27 afternoon. Sulthan Jewellery in the town reported that it has lost ten sovereigns of gold ornaments on account of the deceitful act of these women thieves.
Three women, all of whom looked to be around 30, entered the shop at about 12.40 pm on Monday, and told the employees that they wanted to buy gold ornaments. They were clad in churidars and speaking in Hindi, the shop employees said.
The women were led to the upper floor of the shop, where they checked scores of gold chains, seeking to see some new model every time. They succeeded in diverting the attention of the employees briefly, before leaving the shop.
Once the women left the shop, the employees, who grew suspicious about the behaviour of these women, checked and found that a ten-sovereign gold chain had gone missing. Before they came out of the shop and searched for the women, the trio had made good its escape. However, their movements were recorded in the closed circuit television cameras installed in the shop.
After public relations officer of the firm, Shibu, complained to the policemen in this connection, policemen including assistant superintendent of police, T K Shibu, circle inspector, Babu Peringoth, sub-inspector, Bijulal, etc visited the shop and obtained the versions from the employees, besides checking the CCTV footages.
