Mangalore: Mayoral Election on March 7

Mangalore, Mar 1: The election to choose the new mayor and deputy mayor for the city corporation council will be held on March 7 at 11.30 am at the council hall here.

The government has already announced eligibility criteria for this election. As per this, the post of the mayor will go to a lady belonging to backward class – A category, and that of the deputy mayor, to a woman from scheduled caste. Divisional commissioner of Mysore will be the returning officer for this election. 

The term of the present mayor, Praveen, ended on February 7. There has been delay in conducting the election as there was delay on the part of the government in announcing reservation matrix.
