Udupi, Mar 1: On the Wednesday, 12 candidates filed nomination papers for Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency bypoll. February 29 happened to be the last day for the filing of nominations.

With this, 23 candidates have filed 30 sets of nomination papers for this by election. In addition to Congress, JD(S), and BJP, parties like JDU (Kateeel Hari Shanbhogue), National Democratic Party (K Chandrashekhar) etc are also in the fray.

The scrutiny of the nomination papers is being held today. March 3 will be the last date for withdrawal of nominations, said M T Reju, deputy commissioner of Udupi district, who happens to be the returning officer for the bypoll.
