Udupi, Mar 2: Sahitya Akademi Award winner Melvyn Rodrigues was felicited by Milagres College Kallianpur and Konkani Associatation Udupi District jointly on Thursday March 1 at Silver Jubilee Hall, Milagres College, Kallianpur.

Fr Ivan Rodrigues, principal of the college, in his presidential address said that Melvyn Rodrigues is full of Konkani Knowledge. He said, "There is no paper, magazine, weekly or monthly in Konkani language which has not published his articles."

Today by recieving the Central Sahitya Akademi Award, New Delhi not only is recognition given to him for his achievement but along with that he has made Konkani-speaking people proud. This is a historical moment in the Konkani community, he added

Melvyn Rodrigues, Dr Gerald Pinto, Louis Almeida, Prof Joseph Fernandes were present on the dais on the occasion.

Divya Kamath compered the programme. Anitha and group conducted the prayers. Dr Gerald Pinto welcomed the gathering, and Louis Almeida delivered the vote of thanks.
