Bangalore, Mar 2: Following in the spree of notification cases filed against high and the mighty, another such case was filed against former Chief Minister, H D Kumaraswamy, on Thursday March 1.

Kumaraswamy has been accused of denotifying two acres 24 guntas out of the land acquired by Bangalore Development Authority for creating Banashankari V Stage in the city. A person named Mahadeva Swamy filed a complaint in the special Lokayuka court here on Thursday, against the former Chief Minister, accusing the latter of causing a loss of Rs 56 crore to the exchequer through the above move.

Kumaraswamy has been named as the first accused in the case. The other accused named in the petition are Padma, a landlord, his son, Chetan Kumar, and 15 others. The petition has been filed under different sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.

Judge of the court, Justice N K Sudheendra Rao, who obtained details of the allegations levelled, directed the petitioners to explain as to how Kumaraswamy had benefitted by denotifying the said land, and also about the possibility of combing the case with the Thanisandra denotification case. The case stands posted to Friday.
