Mangalore, Mar 2: Canara Organization for Development and Peace (CODP), official organization of diocese of Mangalore for development activities, will be organizing a convention of self-help groups promoted by the organization at Milagres School grounds, on Sunday March 4.

CODP promotes 700 self-help-groups with 10,640 members of whom 90 percent are women.  Around 4,000 people from Udupi, Kinnigoli, Bajpe, Moodbidri, Beltangady, Puttur, Bantwal, and Kasargod will participate in the convention.

The programme will commence with a rally that will begin at 9.30 am on Sunday at Balmatta grounds and proceed to Milagres School grounds.

Union minister for corporate affairs Veerappa Moily will inaugurate the programme at 11 am on Thursday.

Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza will preside over the programme. New Delhi director designate of Caritas India Fr Fredrick D'Souza will be the chief guest on the occasion.
Manjeshwar MLA Abdul Razak will be the guest of honour. Social activist Dr Rita Noronha will speak on human rights on the occasion.

CODP director Fr Onil D'Souza, assistant director Fr Oswald Monteiro, Puttur Adarsha Federation Mary D'Souza, Kasargod Spandana Federation secretary Nirmala, Kumbla Margadarshini Federation secretary Asma, Bharati S Chowta of Bantwal Namana Federation, as well as co-ordinators Ravi Kumar Crasta and Ivan Menezes were present at the press meet.
