Mumbai, Feb 26: Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan is steadily recovering after being hospitalised earlier this week in Mumbai following a minor brain haemorrhage. Actor Aamir Khan, who visited the ailing writer, reassured media that his condition is improving.
Speaking after his visit, Aamir said, “I went to meet Salim Sahab. We are all praying that he recovers soon. He is in the ICU. I couldn’t meet him personally, but I spent time with the family.”

He added that Salim Khan’s daughter Alvira has been regularly updating him about his health. “His health is improving every day. We are all praying that he returns home soon and makes a complete recovery,” he said.
Salim Khan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on February 17 after suffering a minor brain haemorrhage. He was initially treated in the emergency department before being shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for close monitoring.
The hospital issued a detailed medical bulletin on February 18 confirming that he is stable and responding to treatment. A multidisciplinary team comprising neurologists, cardiologists, neurosurgeons, nephrologists and other specialists assessed his condition and charted the treatment plan.
As part of the protocol, he was intubated to enable close monitoring and further investigations. Neurosurgeon Dr Nitin Dange performed a diagnostic procedure known as Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA). The hospital clarified that the procedure was successful and uneventful, and that no surgical intervention was required.
Doctors have dismissed reports claiming that his condition was critical, stating that he remains under close observation and is showing gradual improvement.
Several members of the film industry have visited the hospital to enquire about his health. Family members, including his son Salman Khan, have been by his side. Close friends and colleagues such as Javed Akhtar, Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Dutt also visited to offer support.
Salim Khan is regarded as one of the most influential screenwriters in Hindi cinema. Along with Javed Akhtar, he formed the iconic duo Salim-Javed, which redefined mainstream Bollywood storytelling in the 1970s with landmark films such as Sholay, Deewar, Trishul and Don.
Fans and well-wishers across the country continue to pray for his speedy and complete recovery.
