Beirut, Feb 27: Israeli air strikes on Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley have killed one person and wounded 29 others, marking the latest in a series of reported ceasefire violations.
Lebanon’s Ministry of Health said a 16-year-old Syrian boy, identified as Hussein Mohsen al-Khalaf, was killed in a strike on Kfar Dan near Baalbek, the National News Agency (NNA) reported on Thursday. Local outlet L’Orient also confirmed the casualty.

According to NNA, at least 13 air strikes were recorded — four in Shmestar, five in Boudai, two in Harbata, and two in the Hermel and Nabi Chit mountains. Several shops were damaged in the Baalbek Souk in the Tallet al-Ajami area.
The Israeli military said it targeted eight camps belonging to Hezbollah’s special operations unit, known as the Radwan Force. It alleged that weapons and missiles were stored at the sites and that training was conducted there “as part of preparations for emergency situations, and to plan and execute terrorist plots”. Israel described the activity as a “violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon”.
Despite a November 2024 ceasefire aimed at ending more than a year of hostilities, Israel has continued to carry out strikes in Lebanon. According to the United Nations, more than 300 people — including 127 civilians — have been killed since the truce came into effect.
Last week, at least 12 people were killed in Israeli strikes on the Bekaa Valley and the Ein el-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp near Sidon. Israel said it was targeting command centres linked to Hezbollah and Hamas.
Lebanon lodged a complaint with the United Nations in January, detailing 2,036 alleged Israeli violations between October and December 2025 alone. Beirut urged the UN Security Council to compel Israel to end the strikes and to fully withdraw from Lebanese territory.
Israel continues to occupy parts of southern Lebanon, hampering reconstruction efforts in border villages and preventing displaced residents from returning home.
Lebanon’s government has stated it has nearly fulfilled its ceasefire commitment to disarm Hezbollah south of the Litani River and expects to complete the second phase within four months. However, Hezbollah has rejected this interpretation, arguing that the disarmament clause applies only to areas south of the river.
