Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Mar 2: Dakshina Kannada district deputy director in the department of food and civil services, Sharanabasappa, has said that the district may not suffer from  LPG shortage at least for the present, on account of the strike call given by LPG Tankers Association relating to differences with government over charges paid to tankers.

He said the godowns in the district have enough stock of cooking gas, and hence, there is no need for the LPG consumers to become panicky.

“Both Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation have their bottling plants in the city. Indian Oil Corporation gets its cylinders from Shimoga bottling plant. At present, however, all these companies have enough stock of cooking gas. I have already spoken to the concerned, and my assessment is that at present there will be no problem here,” he said, sources in the department explained.
