Kasargod: Group Clashes at Bekal on Petty Issue

Daijiworld Media Network – Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, Mar 3: A dispute over writing slogans on electric poles gave rise to friction between crowds at Iduvangal near Bekal in the district on the night of Thursday March 1.

Police had to use tear gas shells to disperse the mob, after caning failed to have the desired effect.

Police also arrested Harshad (19), and Balaji (64), both from Bekal. They have also named 210 locals including Dilshad, Shanid, Abbas, Umesh, Narayanan, and Gopal as being involved with the disturbance.

After the two groups clashed with each other, stones were pelted at a prayer centre. This news spread like wildfire, and more people took to streets to protest against the incident, which gave rise to street fights.
