From debut to stardom: Prayaga Martin’s journey began with Sagar Alias Jacky reloaded

Hyderabad, Mar 12: Despite the soaring expectations surrounding the 2009 action thriller Sagar Alias Jacky Reloaded, the movie fell short of box-office predictions. The film was highly anticipated as a spiritual spin-off of Mohanlal’s 1987 blockbuster Irupatham Noottandu and marked the superstar’s first collaboration with promising director Amal Neerad, who was riding high after the cult success of Big B (2007). While Mohanlal’s signature style and the film’s sleek execution received appreciation, the movie failed to make the lasting impact many had hoped for.

The film also introduced a teenage actress, Prayaga Martin, in a small but noticeable role alongside Mohanlal. Although her screen time was limited, she caught the public’s eye and paved the way for her future in cinema. Prayaga later appeared in a minor role in Ustad Hotel (2012), starring Dulquer Salmaan, Thilakan, and Nithya Menen, while also beginning to explore modelling opportunities.

Prayaga’s journey in performing arts began early. In a 2014 interview with Times of India, she shared that she started learning dance at the age of five. Trained in classical forms like Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Mohiniyattam, she also explored freestyle dance. Despite receiving modelling offers from Class I and her mother’s encouragement, Prayaga remained focused on her passion for dance and acting rather than immediate glamour.

Today, Prayaga Martin has carved a name for herself in the industry, but her roots trace back to that modest debut in a film that, while not a commercial hit, became the starting point of her artistic journey.
