Panaji, Mar 25: Panic buying swept across parts of Goa on Wednesday following rumours of a potential fuel shortage, resulting in long queues and chaotic scenes at petrol pumps in several areas.

Residents rushed to fuel stations in large numbers, many carrying cans, bottles, and other containers to stock up on petrol. The sudden surge led to serpentine queues of vehicles, traffic congestion, and confusion outside multiple outlets.

The situation has been further aggravated by an ongoing LPG shortage in the state, which has heightened public anxiety and fueled speculation about a wider supply crisis.

Seeking to calm fears, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant urged citizens not to panic or resort to hoarding. He reassured the public that petrol supplies remain stable and there is no shortage of fuel in the state.

“People should remain calm and avoid unnecessary crowding. Petrol is readily available, and there is no need to rush to pumps,” Sawant said, emphasizing that adequate supply is being maintained.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely while appealing to residents to rely only on official information and avoid spreading rumours.
