Margao, Apr 3: At least nine youths from Benaulim have approached the police after allegedly being duped of Rs 2–3 lakh each by a fake job agency promising overseas employment.

According to the complaint, the victims had contacted a Navelim-based agency that assured them of lucrative jobs abroad. However, after collecting substantial sums, the agency allegedly stopped responding to calls and queries, raising suspicions of fraud.

The affected youths, along with Venzy Viegas, submitted a formal complaint at the Margao Police Station, seeking action against those responsible.

Authorities have begun examining the matter, with concerns that more victims could be involved in the suspected racket.

Local residents have urged stricter measures to curb such job scams, which often target Goan youth aspiring for employment opportunities abroad.
