Herd of wild elephants spotted along Kumaradhara riverbank in Kadaba

Kadaba, Apr 11: A herd of wild elephants was spotted on Saturday morning along the banks of the Kumaradhara river near Nekkiladi 102 Kodimbala, close to Koriyar in Kadaba taluk, triggering concern among local residents and commuters.

According to locals, a total of eight elephants were seen moving together in the area. As panic spread among nearby villagers and road users, forest officials from Subrahmanya and Panja ranges rushed to the spot and initiated precautionary measures.

Officials are closely monitoring the movement of the elephants and have launched efforts to safely drive them back into the forest.

Forest department authorities stated that incidents of wild elephants straying into human settlements have increased in recent days in search of food and water. They urged residents in rural areas to remain alert and cautious.

The department has also issued public advisories asking people not to approach the elephants, avoid attempting to take photos or videos, and refrain from unnecessary movement during night hours.

Residents have been instructed to immediately inform the forest department in case of any emergency. Forest personnel continue to remain deployed at the site, and officials confirmed that the situation is currently under control.
