Valpoi, Apr 14: The JMFC Court Valpoi has ordered framing of charges against two accused—Mohamad Saleh Khan and Usman Khan—in a case involving alleged illegal transportation of beef and assault on police personnel, while discharging a third accused due to lack of evidence.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on the night of January 25, 2025, near Padeli Gulelim Bridge, when police intercepted a car allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the accused allegedly pushed and threatened police officers with dire consequences, used abusive language, and obstructed them from carrying out their duties.

During a search of the vehicle, police reportedly found that the accused were transporting beef illegally.

The court, after examining the material on record, observed that there was sufficient prima facie evidence to frame charges against the two accused under various sections related to assault or criminal force to deter a public servant, acts endangering life, intentional insult to provoke breach of peace, and criminal intimidation.

Additionally, the court directed that both accused be charged under Section 8 of the Goa Animal Preservation Act for alleged illegal transport or slaughter of scheduled animals.

However, the court discharged a third accused, citing insufficient evidence to proceed with charges.
