Panaji, Apr 17: Homemade dishes prepared by Goan women drew wide appreciation at the G-Food Fest, showcasing the state’s rich and diverse culinary traditions.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who inaugurated the event, said that while global cuisines like Korean food are gaining popularity, none can match the richness and uniqueness of traditional Goan cuisine. He highlighted that from Pernem to Canacona, delicacies such as dhodol and bebinca reflect the vibrant culinary heritage of the state.

Emphasising the need for wider recognition, he said efforts are being made to promote Goan cuisine globally and include it in catering services.

He also noted that traditional Goan food is not only nutritious but largely organic, enhancing its appeal.

MLA Deviya Rane, who was present at the event, encouraged women to make the most of such platforms and benefit from the growing demand for authentic local cuisine.

The G-Food Fest featured a variety of homemade and traditional dishes, underlining the significant role played by women in preserving and promoting Goa’s culinary legacy.
