Mumbai: Young singer Rishal Melba Crasta conferred ‘Sadhanashree Rashtra Award’

Mumbai, May 6: Young singer Rishal Melba Crasta, hailing from Mangaluru, was conferred the prestigious ‘Sadhanashree Rashtra Award’ at the Kannada Kampu programme organised by Katha Bindu Prakashana during its 10th edition held on Sunday at the Mysore Association hall on Bhaudaji Road, Matunga East.

At the award ceremony conducted under the leadership of P V Pradeep Kumar of Katha Bindu Prakashana, Mangaluru, chief guest Praveen Bhoja Shetty, president of Buntara Sangha Mumbai, along with guests including CA Surendra K Shetty, former president of the Bombay Bunts Association, and Aryabhata awardee Shambhu Sanil, and other dignitaries honoured 18-year-old Rishal Melba Crasta in recognition of her remarkable achievement in the field of music.

Speaking on the occasion, Praveen Bhoja Shetty said that the objective of the Kannada Kampu programme is to identify, nurture, and present the hidden talents in individuals to the public. “This time, we have selected Rishal Melba Crasta for this award. By choosing her for the Sadhanashree Rashtra Award, the fragrance of Kannada has reached the entire nation,” he said. He added that the achievement of 18-year-old Rishal at the national level has brought pride and joy to all. Dignitaries on the dais appreciated her voice quality, pitch accuracy, and expressive singing style. They noted that achieving such success at a young age is rare and expressed confidence that she would scale greater heights in the future.

CA Surendra Shetty said that Rishal’s achievement has brought pride and happiness to everyone and credited her passion for music and hard work for her success. “The dedication and practice she displays in every song are clearly evident. This national award is just a beginning, and her talent will shine on bigger platforms in the future,” he said.

Shambhu Sanil said that Rishal Melba Crasta is an inspiration to the younger generation. “Achieving such success at a young age is truly motivating for other youth. May her effort, determination, and love for art bring her more success in the coming days,” he wished.

It is noteworthy that her family has played a significant role in her success. Rishal’s father, noted singer Rony Crasta, and mother Matilda Jesinta Crasta are both singers and have worked hard from her childhood to nurture her interest in music. Dignitaries and P V Pradeep Kumar opined that their guidance, training, and encouragement have been the foundation of Rishal’s success.

Madhusudhan T R, Dr Kolchappe Govinda Bhat, Shridevi Rao, Dr Satish N Bangera, Vani Shetty, and other dignitaries were present at the programme. They appreciated Rishal’s voice quality, pitch accuracy, and expressive style. The programme, organised to recognise and honour achievers in various fields, was compered by Anita Shenai, who also welcomed the gathering and delivered the vote of thanks.
