Lucknow, May 13: Prateek Yadav, son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav, passed away in Lucknow on Wednesday. He was 38.

According to police sources, Prateek was brought to the Civil Hospital in Lucknow by family members at around 6.15 am, where doctors declared him brought dead. Aparna Yadav was reportedly not present at the hospital at the time.

Officials said a panel of doctors from King George’s Medical University will conduct a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary observations reportedly found no visible injury marks on the body.

Prateek was the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife Sadhna Gupta. He was also the stepbrother of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.

An MBA graduate from Leeds University in the United Kingdom, Prateek Yadav was known as a real estate developer and fitness enthusiast. He had launched Lucknow’s first gym in 2016 and earned recognition in bodybuilding circles for his transformation journey.

In 2012, he was featured on an internationally acclaimed bodybuilding platform for his physical transformation, which he had credited to encouragement from his father, Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Prateek was also associated with animal welfare initiatives and had actively supported efforts related to the care and protection of animals.

Prateek and Aparna Yadav married in 2011 and have two children. Earlier this year, reports of differences between the couple surfaced after Prateek shared an emotional social media post announcing plans for divorce, alleging strain in family relations and lack of support during his mental health struggles. However, the couple had not proceeded with the divorce later.
