Srinagar, May 31: Security forces apprehended three individuals from north Kashmir after they allegedly attempted to cross the Line of Control (LoC) into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) through the Uri sector, officials said on Sunday.
According to officials, Army personnel intercepted the trio during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday while they were reportedly trying to move across the border through the Hathlanga–Nambla route in Uri.

The detained individuals have been identified as Adil Hussain Dar, Ishfaq Ahmad, and Jaffar Ahmad, all residents of Sopore in Baramulla district. Officials stated that Dar is a suspended member of the Territorial Army.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the three may have been in contact with handlers operating from across the border in PoK. Security agencies have taken them into custody and are conducting detailed questioning to ascertain the purpose of the attempted crossing and any possible links to cross-border networks.
Authorities have not yet released further details, and investigations remain ongoing.
In a separate development, Army personnel also detained a resident of Muzaffarabad in PoK after he allegedly crossed the LoC into the Silikote area of Uri sector.
The individual, identified as Zeeshan Mir, reportedly told security officials that he had crossed into the Indian side to meet a woman residing in the Tileai area. Both Mir and the woman are currently being questioned as part of the investigation, officials said.
The Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir stretches for approximately 740 kilometres, passing through districts including Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Poonch, Rajouri and parts of Jammu. The border remains under constant surveillance due to concerns related to infiltration, illegal crossings, narcotics trafficking, and cross-border drone activity.
Security agencies have repeatedly highlighted the use of drones by terror networks operating from across the border to transport weapons, ammunition, cash and narcotics into Indian territory. To counter such threats, the Army has deployed advanced surveillance systems and anti-drone technologies along vulnerable stretches of the frontier.
Officials said investigations into both incidents are continuing, and additional information is expected once preliminary questioning is completed.
