MRPL organises beach cleaning campaign on occasion of World Environment Day

Mangaluru, Jun 3: As part of the World Environment Day 2026 celebrations, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), in association with the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), Mangaluru, organised a beach cleaning programme at Iddya Beach near Surathkal on June 2, 2026.

The event was graced by the chief guest, Rajshekar Puranik, senior environmental officer (SEO), KSPCB, Mangaluru. Special invitee Dr Manju R., environmental officer (EO), KSPCB, Mangaluru. Members of the Nagarika Salaha Samithi, Surathkal, led by Satish Sadanand, students of Govinda Dasa College and officials from MRPL participated in the beach cleaning campaign.

H S Rajeev, group general manager (HSE); Krishna Pillai Anil Kumar, chief general manager (HSE); Prasanna Kumar T, general manager (HSE); and Rajendra Acharya, general manager (HSE) were present during the programme.

More than 150 volunteers along with employees of MRPL enthusiastically participated in the beach cleaning drive. The campaign aimed to create awareness about environmental pollution and its adverse impact on marine life and coastal ecosystems.
