Los Angeles, Jun 18: Actress Daveigh Chase, best known for voicing Lilo in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch and portraying the eerie Samara Morgan in the horror classic The Ring, has died at the age of 35 following complications from meningitis and a severe blood infection, according to reports.
Chase reportedly passed away on June 16. Her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, said she had been battling meningitis and multiple blood infections that led to sepsis and critical health complications. She had also been hospitalised earlier this month due to malnutrition.

Born on July 24, 1990, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Chase began acting at a young age and appeared in several television shows, including ER, Charmed, The Practice and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
She rose to international fame in 2002 after voicing the title character in Disney’s animated hit Lilo & Stitch. She later reprised the role in sequels and the television series, becoming a familiar voice to a generation of viewers.
The same year, Chase delivered one of horror cinema’s most memorable performances as Samara Morgan in The Ring, earning widespread acclaim for her chilling portrayal of the supernatural antagonist. The role won her the MTV Movie Award for Best Villain.
Her other notable credits included Donnie Darko, where she played Samantha Darko, the English-language voice of Chihiro in Studio Ghibli’s acclaimed Spirited Away, and a recurring role in HBO’s Big Love.
Chase largely stepped away from the entertainment industry after her final screen appearances in the mid-2010s. News of her death has prompted tributes from fans across the world, who remembered her for her contributions to both animation and horror cinema.
