Guiyang, Jun 18: Reigning world champion Minakshi continued her impressive run at the World Boxing Cup (Stage 2), advancing to the women's 51kg quarterfinals with a dominant victory in Guiyang, China, on Thursday.

Competing in the Olympic 51kg category, the World No. 1 in the 48kg division secured a convincing 5-0 unanimous decision win over Poland’s Natalia Kuczewska to move into the last eight.

However, it was the end of the road for Abhinash Jamwal in the men's 65kg category, as he suffered a 0-5 defeat against Kyrgyzstan’s Mirzokhid Imamnazarov.

India's campaign has gathered momentum, with five boxers progressing to the quarterfinal stage. They include Nikhil (55kg), Deepak (70kg), Minakshi (51kg), Prachi (57kg), and Saneh (65kg).

Meanwhile, Jyoti (48kg) and Jugnoo (85kg) have already secured medals for India after advancing to the semi-finals.

In the upcoming quarterfinal bouts, Minakshi will face Kazakhstan’s Alua Balkibekova, while Saneh will take on Poland’s Kinga Krowka in the women's 65kg category. Prachi is set to meet Chinese Taipei’s Shih Yi Wu in the 57kg division.

In the men's draw, Nikhil will battle Azerbaijan’s Amin Mammadzada for a place in the semifinals.
