Harare, Jun 30: Zimbabwe produced a dominant all-round performance to register the biggest Test victory in the nation's history, defeating Bangladesh by an innings and 85 runs in the one-off Test at the Harare Sports Club on Tuesday.
Led by captain Richard Ngarava, the hosts outclassed Bangladesh in every department to secure a memorable triumph and script a new chapter in Zimbabwean cricket.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Zimbabwe's pace attack dismantled the Bangladesh batting line-up on the opening day. The visitors were bundled out for just 140, with Mominul Haque offering the only significant resistance through a fighting 60 off 81 deliveries.

Young pacer Newman Nyamhuri starred with the ball, claiming four wickets, while Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani and Brad Evans picked up two wickets each to complete the demolition.
Zimbabwe then seized complete control of the contest with an outstanding batting display. Opener Innocent Kaia struck a magnificent 140, while Craig Ervine, Brian Bennett and Wessly Madhevere all contributed valuable half-centuries to propel the hosts to 410 in their first innings.
Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam was the standout performer for the tourists, finishing with an impressive seven-wicket haul despite his team's struggles.
Holding a commanding first-innings lead of 270 runs, Zimbabwe maintained relentless pressure in Bangladesh's second innings.
The visitors failed to mount a recovery and were bowled out for 185, falling well short of making Zimbabwe bat again. Veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim top-scored with 34, but none of the Bangladesh batters managed to produce a substantial innings.
Zimbabwe's fast-bowling unit once again proved decisive, with Muzarabani claiming four wickets, Ngarava taking three, and the remaining pacers contributing to ensure every member of the four-man attack featured among the wickets in both innings.
The victory also marked Zimbabwe's first successive Test wins in more than 25 years. In their previous Test outing, they had defeated Afghanistan by an innings and 73 runs in October, and have now followed it up with another innings victory over Bangladesh.
