Makers deny CBFC trouble for Salman Khan's 'Maatrubhumi'

Mumbai, Jul 4: The makers of Salman Khan-starrer Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace have dismissed reports claiming that the film has run into trouble with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), clarifying that the movie has not yet been submitted for certification.

The clarification came after several media reports suggested that the CBFC had withheld the film's certification until further notice. Rejecting the speculation, the makers termed the reports "false" and "baseless."

In an official statement issued on Friday, the team said, "Any claims suggesting that Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace has encountered issues with the CBFC or that its certification has been put on hold are false. The film has not yet been submitted to the CBFC for certification. Therefore, such reports are entirely baseless."

The makers also urged the media and the public not to circulate unverified information, adding that any official updates regarding the film would be announced only through Salman Khan Films' official channels.

The film, earlier titled Battle of Galwan, was initially scheduled for release in April but was later postponed. Since then, reports have linked the project to reshoots, creative changes and an alleged delay in certification.

Industry reports have suggested that the film could now hit theatres during the Independence Day weekend in August, although the makers are yet to announce a revised release date.

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace also stars Chitrangada Singh in a pivotal role. The film has remained in the spotlight following its title change and release postponement, with the latest clarification aimed at putting speculation over its CBFC status to rest.
