Mandd Sobhann stages 21st performance of Konkani play 'Jugari' at Kalaangann

Mangaluru, Jul 7: Mandd Sobhann’s 295th 'Monthly Theatre' programme was held on Sunday, July 5, at Kalaangann.

Artist and the owner of Surabhi Sounds, Damodar Bhagwat (Dammiyanna), officially inaugurated the programme by ringing the traditional bell. Mandd Sobhann president Louis J Pinto and secretary Rony Crasta were present on the dais. Irene Rebello provided information about the programme.

Following the formal inauguration, the 21st performance of the play 'Jugari' was successfully staged by the 'Astitva' theatre troupe. Originally written in Malayalam by Vaikom Muhammad Basheer, the play was translated into Konkani by Rohan Adkabare. It was designed and directed by Arun Lal from Kerala.

Clanwin Fernandes, Lester Menezes, Zeena Braggs, Mathew Nicholas, Alwyn C Veigas, Samuel Mathias, Claren Serrao, and Christopher D’Souza acted and treated the audience to a feast of comedy. Sweedal D'Souza and Christon Fernandes managed the music. Glen D'Souza contributed with lighting design, Mehboob Ninasam and Sathish Ninasam with stage setup, and Bindu Cutinha assisted with background vocals.
