London, Jul 6: Novak Djokovic scripted another milestone in his illustrious career by defeating Roman Safiullin to reach the men's singles quarter-finals at The Championships, Wimbledon.

The victory was Djokovic's 106th men's singles win at the All England Club, taking him past Roger Federer, who recorded 105 Wimbledon men's singles victories. Only Martina Navratilova has won more singles matches at Wimbledon, with 120 victories.

Djokovic will next face either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the quarter-finals, with a potential semi-final clash against world No. 1 and defending champion Jannik Sinner looming.

In the women's singles, Karolína Muchová advanced to the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the third time after defeating fellow Czech and former champion Barbora Krejcíková 7-5, 5-7, 6-3 in a hard-fought fourth-round match.

Muchová's victory also ensured that this year's Wimbledon women's singles competition will crown a first-time champion.

In one of the biggest upsets of the tournament, former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka stunned top seed Aryna Sabalenka 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) to reach her maiden Wimbledon quarter-final. Osaka completed the victory in one hour and 28 minutes, registering her first win over Sabalenka in eight years.

In another women's singles fourth-round match, Jessica Pegula defeated fellow American Iva Jovic 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 to book her place in the quarter-finals.
