Cruz Silva seeks probe into Goa rave party network

Panaji, Aug 17: Velim MLA Cruz Silva has demanded a thorough investigation into a series of rave and private parties held along Goa's North Goa coastal belt, including events already conducted and those reportedly scheduled until August 18.

Silva said the government should investigate any possible nexus between police personnel, political connections, rave-party organisers and drug networks operating in the state.

"If the government is serious about making Goa a Nasha Mukt Goa, it must stop treating these incidents as isolated events. The entire network behind these parties needs to be exposed," Silva said.

He called for a technical and data-driven investigation, including lawful analysis of phone numbers used by personnel of police stations such as Anjuna and Mandrem, which he said had repeatedly faced controversy.

Silva also sought scrutiny of Instagram and other social media accounts promoting the parties to identify organisers, promoters and their possible links with other individuals and entities.

He further demanded lawful mobile-location and network analysis to establish the number of people present at the venues, their movement patterns and the duration of the gatherings, subject to applicable legal safeguards.

The MLA also sought an audit of emergency calls and police response records, including response times, personnel deployed and their official movement or location records wherever legally available.

Silva said such an investigation could help identify not only attendees or alleged drug carriers but also organisers, suppliers, financiers and alleged kingpins.

"The government keeps talking about drug seizures and arrests of small-time carriers. But the real questions are: Who is organising these parties? Who is supplying the drugs? Who is financing them? And who is protecting them?" he asked.

He said Goa's drug problem could not be tackled through occasional raids while the larger network allegedly continued to operate.

Silva urged the government to launch a time-bound, independent and technically backed investigation and make its findings public.

"Make Goa Nasha Mukt if you want to make Bharat Nasha Mukt. Goa cannot become a destination where drugs, illegal parties and organised networks operate with impunity," he said.
