Teen girl injured in Vile Parle hit-and-run, biker flees

Mumbai, Aug 22: A 15-year-old girl was injured in a hit-and-run incident near Vile Parle in Mumbai, with the motorcyclist involved fleeing the scene and remaining absconding, officials said on Saturday.

The incident occurred on NS Road No. 1 near Mithibai College when the teenager was crossing the road. A speeding motorcycle allegedly hit her before the rider fled without stopping to assist her.

The accident took place during the usual rush hour amid regular traffic movement in the area. The girl was crossing the road when the motorcycle approached at high speed and struck her, leaving her injured on the road.

She was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital after police personnel reached the spot. The teenager is currently undergoing treatment, while further details about the extent of her injuries are awaited.

Mumbai's Juhu Police Station has registered a case against an unidentified person and launched an investigation to trace the motorcyclist.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage from cameras installed near the accident site to identify the motorcycle and its rider. Footage from shops, buildings, junctions and other locations around NS Road No. 1 and Mithibai College is also being checked.

Police said efforts were underway to establish the circumstances leading to the collision and trace the accused.

Officials expressed confidence that the motorcyclist would be identified and arrested soon.
