Mangalore: ‘Zephyr 12’, National Level PG Management Fest Inaugurated

Mangalore, Mar 27: ‘Zephyr 12’, a national level PG management fest organized by the department of business administration, St Joseph Engineering College was inaugurated on Tuesday March 27 at 9.30 am in the Conference Hall, Mechanical Engineering Block, SJEC.

The function was inaugurated by chief guest Dr B K Ravindra, principal, SDM Law College, Mangalore. The guests of honour for the day were Fr Henry Mascarenhas, assistant director of SJEC, Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, principal of SJEC president Fr Valerian D'Souza, director of SJEC. The other dignitaries were Dr Prakash Pinto, dean of MBA and Smita Jesudasan, faculty coordinator. Student coordinators Darren Britto and Rayan D’Souza were also present on the dais.

Dr B K Ravindra, in his inaugural address remarked that the students should be grateful to their alma mater for the excellent education received. He asserted that ethics is the buzz word for the younger generation to adopt and practice. Addressing the issue of cyber ethics, he commented, “As long as you are using computer and internet for legal purposes you are within the purview of cyber ethics”. He highlighted the ten commandments of cyber ethics to be exercised by all in their lives.

Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, in his address greeted the participants and expressed that the students should follow traditions, suitable practices to fetch an answer to differentiate between the right and the wrong through wisdom. “Technology can be used for good and bad purposes”, he affirmed.

Fr Henry Mascarenhas, in his address stressed that our nation should be corrupt free and the task to achieve the same should be borne by the youth.

Fr Valerian D’Souza, in his presidential address remarked that ethics make a person strong. He wished the students to follow the ethics and practices to exhibit the citizenship of the country. He stated that values were more important than money.

The SJEC MBA team choir invoked god’s blessings and graces. Darren Britto, Zephyr student coordinator welcomed the eminent gathering. Rayan Joseph D’Souza, Zephyr student coordinator proposed the vote of thanks.

Lanston Mario Pinto and Lasya Murthy were the MC’s for the inaugural session. Eleven student teams from various colleges in Mangalore, Bangalore, Kasargod, and Davangere participated.
