Saharanpur, Sep 3: The body of an Army soldier who went missing after a boat capsized during a training exercise at the Hathnikund Barrage has been recovered from the Yamuna River in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district.
The soldier’s body was recovered late Wednesday night near Bartha village, around 12 km from the Hathnikund Barrage in Yamunanagar district, where the incident occurred.

Army officials reached the spot and took custody of the body. The recovery brings an end to the search operation launched after the soldier went missing following the boat accident.
The incident occurred during an Army training exercise focused on flood relief operations. An Army boat carrying four to five personnel met with an accident in the Yamuna River amid a strong current.
Four soldiers were reportedly swept away following the mishap. While three managed to swim to safety, one soldier remained missing.
Following the incident, the Army, along with State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams from Yamunanagar and neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, launched a search and rescue operation.
The soldier’s family had been anxiously awaiting news of his safe return. Further details regarding the circumstances of the accident and the recovery are awaited.
