Mangaluru, Sep 4: In a major development, two faculty members of the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, have been taken into custody for alleged misappropriation of funds and criminal breach of trust.
The action comes after NITK officials filed a formal police complaint seeking criminal proceedings against the duo. The institute's administration uncovered the financial irregularities during a comprehensive internal enquiry and subsequently decided to initiate legal action.

Following the internal findings, the NITK management approached the police to take action as per the law. Based on the complaint, the police conducted a preliminary investigation which confirmed the allegations of misappropriation by the faculty members.
Subsequently, the police registered a case of breach of trust by a public servant and took the two accused into custody. Police sources stated that the arrested faculty members will be produced before a magistrate for further legal proceedings.
